Northeast Mycological Federation's Annual Foray
Every year the Northeast Mycological Federation (NEMF) hosts an annual weekend foray in a different part of Northeastern North America with the help of the area's local mushroom clubs. This year it is in Ithica New York. Mycologists come from all around the Northeast US and Canada to be part of this 250+ person mushroom centered event. While there are many mushroom festivals, this one is for people interested in fungal taxonomy aka mushroom identification. John, founder of Catskill Fungi, has presented at the NEMF Foray multiple times and volunteered as Co-Chair in 2017 and Faculty Chair in 2023.

About the event
This year’s foray will explore the rich fungal diversity of the Finger Lakes region while honoring the contributions of women in the field. We’ll also highlight the intersection of mycology and entomology, inspired by the legacy of Samuel Ristich.
Our event will be hosted at Camp Comstock, a quaint Girl Scout camp on the shores of Cayuga Lake. With nearly two miles of waterfront, nearby scenic hiking trails, and a unique treetop cabin village, the location offers a rustic getaway in Tompkins County, NY.
