Outdoor Cultivation and Cooking Demo with Coyote Kitchen Workshops
Join John Michelotti and Chrisso Babcock of Coyote Kitchen Workshops for a hands-on, outdoor workshop at the Coyote Kitchen neighborhood homestead, where we will inoculate logs with edible mushroom spawn. Learn how to inoculate, store and take care of the logs, initiate fruiting, and harvest mushrooms. Inoculate two logs and take one home, along with all the knowledge and resources you need to order more spawn and create your own mini mushroom farm at home.
Next we will learn and create a Wine Cap, Stropharia, or Garden Giant bed. These fungi are great companions in mulch paths and gardens.
Finally, over an open fire Chrisso will cook up some mushrooms for everyone to eat while we learn cooking tips.
On site will be a videographer filming the workshop which will be shared on Catskill Fungi and Coyote Kitchen websites and social media pages.
Space is limited to eight participants who must be comfortable being included in the video.
Catskill Fungi mushroom extracts, mushroom-related books, t-shirts, and limited spawn will be available for purchase.
Come prepared with your mushroom questions! Closed-toe shoes are required. Wear outdoor work clothes and bring garden gloves if desired.
We will proceed rain or shine, unless severe storms are predicted.
